Rev. Kevin Cecil

I originally trained as an artist, first at Newport and then in Exeter. While I was in Exeter training to be an Art Teacher, I had what can only be described as an encounter with God, the effect of which changed my path completely.

This glimpse of eternity has shaped everything I do and inspires all I create. During my time in the church, I spent years working for the Church Mission Society (CMS), travelling extensively across the world. The soul of that rich experience shows up in my love of people through portraiture. Now retired from pastoral duties, I'm returning to art. I also have a passion for animals as I believe all living things are interlinked, so they turn up in my work frequently.

I have post graduate qualifications in teaching so I teach give talks and facilitate workshops to help people find their gifts. I've done this within church settings and none church groups. I also have qualifications in counselling and pastoral Theology and a degree in Fine Art.

On a lighter note my only claim to fame is that I was once the most highly qualified dustman in the whole of Rhymney Valley District Council!

At present, I'm writing a book chronicling some of my adventures overseas, and the profound learning that came out of those experiences. You'll find some excerpts and work in progress from the book on my blog. Many of these moments have also inspired music compositions - you can listen to a few on my music page.

I'm a typical Celt: we meet God in each other, as we are all created in God’s image, whether we can see that or not. I hope this web site will inspire as much as challenge the way we see the wonderful world we live as well as offer glimpses of God’s unconditional love.

If there is anything, I can do to help you to find your own creativity or you would like to share in the images or music I produce, please don't hesitate to contact me through the contact page.  Enjoy.
